In 2020, we founded kaala, a label for yoga bags. The products should be good for you. And for the environment. We were inspired by Finnish first names: as they are often derived from nature. kaala (kala) means fish in Finnish. You can see a human figure in our logo. In warrior pose.

We are Carolin van Eupen and Regina Winther and we’ve been working as product designers for many years. Sometimes together, sometimes on our own projects. We have been doing yoga for a long time, but we lacked a practical way of transporting our yoga mats. As designers, it was a matter of course to develop our own solution. So we founded kaala in 2020. Our main purpose was to design a bag that combines functionality with our aesthetic aspirations. We also wanted to develop a product that matches our values.

So leben wir privat schon lange. So wollen wir auch arbeiten. Als Produktdesignerinnen kennen wir die Textilindustrie; wir waren oft in Asien, haben Produktionsstätten und Lieferanten besucht. Wir wissen, wo die Probleme liegen.Unsere Vision ist einfach: Wir wollen Produkte entwickeln, die dich viele Jahre begleiten, aus recycelten Materialien bestehen und keinen Abfall erzeugen.
